On Saturday, May 20th, Livermore High School will be “celebrating the past, present, and future” by hosting a 125th anniversary celebration. The event runs from 1pm to 9pm, featuring student art exhibits, a car show, musical performances, and snacks prepared by the LHS culinary students. Vice Principal Tom Fletcher estimates that there would be around 1000-1500 attendees, possibly more.
In addition to this, historic LHS memorabilia will be on display for all to see. Photos, with the earliest being in the early 1890’s will be shown, including what our school looked like, our sports teams, and our past teachers.
Admission to the open house and tours are free, while the evening social in the amphitheater will cost 15 dollars. According to the Livermore High School Alumni Association’s webstore, the evening social will include “savory and sweet bites with signature ‘mocktails’ inspired by the decades.” Also included in the package is a 125th anniversary commemorative cup, and 10 food tickets to try various dishes.
For those who wish to remember this historic evening forever, limited edition merchandise will be for sale, with items ranging from t-shirts to license plate frames, all embellished with a special 125th logo. Limited edition wine will also be available for purchase, courtesy of Eagle Ridge Winery, owned by two LHS alumni, Cheryl and Jim Perry.
When asked what he was most looking forward to, VP Fletcher explained, “Now that I’ve been working with this project for 18 months, what I’m looking forward the most, truthfully, is just the gathering of such a wide variety that have a connection…that sounds totally cliché.” He went on to say, “I’ve been connecting with so many different folks that are actually excited about coming, it’s kind of given me an energy just to be able to see what kind of impact Livermore High has had on them.”
To close out the celebration, the LHS drama club will be performing their spring musical, ‘In the Heights’. Expected to be an exciting and nostalgic event, Alumni, current students, their families, and the Livermore community are all invited to attend. Come celebrate our school’s achievements and history May 20th at LHS!
