Soccer Update: Livermore vs. Granada

@aproudgoalie

The Tuesday night soccer matches against Granada High School concluded with a 3-2 victory for the Girl’s Varsity team and a 0-1 loss for Boy’s Varsity.

At the end of the first half of the Girl’s Varsity Soccer game, Alexandra Romero (grade 10) scored the first goal, breaking the back and forth that had characterized the game up to that point and energizing the team. Romero then scored a second goal for the Cowboys, making the score 2-1. The game ended with a final score of 3-2, with Makenzi Farro (grade 11) scoring the third goal for the Cowboys

The girl’s team is now 7-5-1. Goalkeeper Ashley Morton (grade 11), who made several key saves to keep the score in the Cowboys’ favor, said, “It feels good.” She explained it was her first win against GHS in her three years on Varsity. Morton also added that she hopes this momentum continues into their next meeting with GHS in the last half of February.

On a less enthusiastic note, the Girl’s JV team lost with a score of 0-1. Lauren Martin (grade 10), said, “It was a good game. But we’re ready for redemption.”

The Boy’s Varsity team had a similar fate to the Girl’s JV team, also losing 0-1. The boys played a tough game, fighting and keeping up with GHS. There were two yellow cards on GHS players and a goal taken away from LHS due to a player being offsides. The team stayed in until the end, though, and should be proud they did not give in.

Overall, the night may not have gone entirely in the Cowboys’ favor, but that just makes the next games so much more exciting. Come out and show your support for the Cowboys as they play their next round of games.
